Our take
It makes most sense if you're not hiring a car: for €59 you get transport plus a ticket that already costs €30 and has to be booked for a time slot. With a car, going early on your own is cheaper. Its score (4.4) is a little lower than other island trips, with value for money the weakest point; expect a fair amount of coach time and logistics stops.

The experience
What you'll see
A half-day trip focused only on Timanfaya National Park, the landscape left by the eruptions of 1730 to 1736. It's the short option if you don't want a full day on a coach.
- The Volcano Route, the coach circuit through craters and lava fields that you can only access on official transport.
- The geothermal demonstrations at Islote de Hilario: water that shoots back out as steam and brushwood that catches fire in a hole in the ground.
- Views of the craters and the sea of lava from the El Diablo restaurant area.
- An optional camel ride of about 30 minutes, paid separately in cash.
How it works
You're picked up at your hotel or the point you choose when booking (there are more than forty across the island, from Playa Blanca to Costa Teguise). Depending on the area, the whole trip takes 4 to 6 hours, and there may be a logistics stop in Yaiza to reorganise groups.
In the park, entry is included and you don't have to fight for time slots: Fire Mountains tickets are now sold online only, for a set time. The Volcano Route is done seated on the coach; the only walking is around Islote de Hilario, where the ground is uneven and slippery in places.
If the park closes for reasons beyond the operator's control, you visit the visitor centre instead. The camel ride and anything you book yourself are not the operator's responsibility.
Who I'd recommend it to
- Anyone not hiring a car who wants to see Timanfaya without hassle.
- Anyone short on time who'd rather keep the afternoon free.
- Anyone who couldn't get a timed ticket on the official website.
Who I wouldn't recommend it to
- Anyone with a car: going early on your own, you only pay for the ticket. Read how to visit Timanfaya.
- Anyone who wants to hike among the volcanoes: the guided volcano hike is better.
- Anyone who also wants Jameos and Cueva de los Verdes: the full-day combined tour is better value.
Accessibility
Non-folding and electric wheelchairs are not allowed; the ground at Islote de Hilario is uneven.
Cancellation policy
