Our take
This is the most efficient way to see Timanfaya and Jameos del Agua in a single day without a car, and with over 2,000 reviews at 4.5/5 the operator is well proven. The trade-off is a big coach and tightly timed stops; if you'd rather take it slowly, split the south and the north over two days.
What's included
- Pickup and drop-off at selected locations
- Air-conditioned coach
- Guide
- Timanfaya National Park entry
- Jameos del Agua entry
- Stop at El Golfo and the Green Lagoon
Not included
- Camel ride (about €12 for 25 minutes, cash)
- Lunch (optional, about €18; you can bring your own)
Good to know
What to bring
- Comfortable closed-toe shoes
Not suitable for
- People with mobility impairments
- Wheelchair users
Things to keep in mind
- Timanfaya's ground is uneven and can be slippery; closed trainers are best
- No pets, mobility scooters, or non-folding or electric wheelchairs
- Optional activities cancelled by third parties are not refunded
- For cruise passengers, the tour ends around 7 pm
Meeting point
Pickup from over sixty hotels and stops in Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise, Arrecife and other areas.
Choose the nearest pickup point when booking. Time on the coach depends on where you stay; the time at each stop is the same for everyone. There may be a logistics stop in Yaiza to sort groups onto coaches.
The experience
What you will see
- The Green Lagoon at El Golfo, a lagoon inside a crater by the sea.
- The Fire Mountains and the Volcano Route in Timanfaya.
- The geothermal demonstrations at Islote de Hilario.
- Jameos del Agua, the lava tube transformed by César Manrique.
How it works
You're picked up at your hotel or a nearby stop and the coach heads south first: El Golfo, Timanfaya with its guided route and Islote de Hilario, and an optional camel ride. Then there's a lunch break (paid separately) before the coach crosses to the north, with an optional photo stop at Monte Corona, ending with almost an hour at Jameos del Agua. In total it takes 7 to 8 hours depending on your pickup point.
Who I recommend it for
- Anyone without a car who wants the essentials in one day.
- Anyone on a short stay on the island.
- Families who'd rather someone else handled tickets and transport.
Who I don't recommend it for
- Anyone who wants to go at their own pace: stops are short.
- Anyone with reduced mobility.
Accessibility
Not suitable for people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, with a full refund.
