Our take
It's one of the island's best-rated day trips and one of the most complete for the price: a volcano, the summits and the dunes in one day. The trade-off is English-only guiding and groups of up to 25; if mountain roads make you queasy, sit at the front.

The experience
What you will see
- Bandama Caldera, the island's largest extinct volcanic crater, with views of the east coast and Las Palmas.
- The historic centre of Santa Brígida.
- Pico de las Nieves, the roof of Gran Canaria, from where Mount Teide is often visible.
- San Bartolomé de Tirajana, with a free ethnographic museum.
- Fataga, a mountain village and the lunch stop.
- The Maspalomas dunes, with 45 minutes of free time.
How it works
You leave Las Palmas in the morning and cross the island from north to south in an air-conditioned vehicle, with a guide explaining the history and nature at each stop. After lunch in Fataga (at your own cost), you head down to Maspalomas and, after free time on the dunes, the vehicle returns to Las Palmas. If you're staying in the south, you can get off there.
Who I recommend it for
- Anyone staying in Las Palmas who wants the island's essentials in one day.
- English speakers after a cheap, highly rated day trip.
Who I don't recommend it for
- Anyone who doesn't understand English.
- Anyone prone to carsickness on winding roads.
- Families with children under 7.
Accessibility
Not suitable for people with mobility impairments or wheelchair users.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, with a full refund.
