Our take
It's Fuerteventura's big family day out, with consistently good ratings across thousands of reviews. It works best if you're staying in Costa Calma or Jandía, close by; from Corralejo it's more than an hour's drive. If your children are older and want the sea, a dolphin boat may be a better use of the day.

The experience
What you'll see
- More than 3,000 animals from around 250 species along a route through different regions of the world.
- Live shows with reptiles, parrots, sea lions and birds of prey.
- A botanical garden with cacti and dry-climate plants.
- The Sabana Splash water area and a playground for younger children.
How it works
You buy a ticket for a specific day and show it at the park entrance in La Lajita, in the municipality of Pájara. Entry is between 9:00 and 17:00 and you go round at your own pace, choosing the order and how long to spend in each area. If you book the option with the camel ride (30 minutes) or the lemurs, your time is given at the ticket office; sessions run roughly every 20 minutes between 9:30 and 16:00, so it's worth stopping at the ticket office as soon as you arrive.
There are two restaurants inside. Food for the giraffes and camels is bought separately in the park.
Practical tips
- Getting there: La Lajita is on the FV-2 between Gran Tarajal and Costa Calma. From Costa Calma it's a few minutes; from Caleta de Fuste or Corralejo it's much further. You can add a transfer when booking.
- When to go: first thing, when it's cooler and the animals are more active. The grounds are large and some stretches are in full sun.
- Accessibility: the park is partially accessible and rents electric wheelchairs.
Who I'd recommend it to
- Families with children, for whom it's the easiest full-day plan on the island.
- Anyone staying in Costa Calma, Esquinzo or Morro Jable.
- Anyone who wants a day off from beach and wind.
Who I would NOT recommend it to
- People who don't like zoos or animal shows.
- Anyone staying in the north without a car: the journey eats up a good part of the day.
Accessibility
Partially accessible; the park rents electric wheelchairs.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, with a full refund.
