Our take
Nerja and Frigiliana make the easiest, most rewarding trip east of Málaga: a huge cave, a lookout over the sea and a picture-postcard white village, all less than an hour away. Privately, with a driver-guide, you go at your own pace and don't waste time hunting for parking in Frigiliana, which is a problem in high season. At €700 for 1 or 2 people it's steep for what it is; with 4 (€880 in total) it's much better value. If you have a car, you can easily do it yourself.

The experience
What the day is like
You're picked up in Málaga and head along the coast with your driver-guide, who fills you in on local traditions on the way. The first stop is the Nerja Caves, with their huge rock formations: the visit lasts about 45 minutes.
Then the Balcón de Europa, Nerja's lookout over the Mediterranean. The day ends in Frigiliana, a white village of narrow lanes, with a guided tour of its history.
