Our take
A good alternative for groups of four who want to drive something different and see the volcanic centre of the island without a coach. Being on-road it's calmer than an off-road buggy; if you're after dust and adrenaline, the northern off-road tour is a better fit.

The experience
What you will see
- The crater of El Cuervo volcano in Los Volcanes Natural Park.
- The pit-planted vineyards of La Geria.
- Las Grietas, a highly photogenic volcanic formation.
How it works
You meet at the back of a petrol station in Puerto del Carmen, get a windbreaker and goggles, and set off in a convoy of up to five buggies behind the guide. The first stop is El Cuervo volcano, reached on a short walk. Then you cross La Geria towards Tías and stop at Las Grietas for photos before returning to Puerto del Carmen. It takes about three hours in total.
Who I recommend it for

Who I don't recommend it for
- Anyone after off-road dirt tracks.
- Anyone who wants to drive without a licence held for two years.
Accessibility
Not wheelchair accessible; includes a walk up to the volcano.
Cancellation policy
