Our take
It works for anyone staying in the south who wants to drive a quad up to Teide without sorting out transport. Watch the real price: the mandatory €30 cover per quad isn't in the headline fare, and the route stays on the road and stops at a viewpoint, not at the foot of the volcano. If you want more time inside Las Cañadas, the route from Chío is cheaper and starts closer to the park.

The experience
What you will see
The route leaves Arona, in the south, and climbs by quad along mountain roads to about 2,100 metres inside Teide National Park, around 58 km in all. You can choose a daytime or sunset departure, and a single or double quad.
- The Canary pine forests of the forest belt above Vilaflor.
- The park's volcanic landscape, with Teide and Pico Viejo seen from a viewpoint.
- In good weather, the feeling of riding above the sea of clouds and, on the afternoon option, sunset over the Atlantic.
How it works
A return transfer is included. The time you book is your check-in time at the Vilosquads base on the TF-51 in Arona: they check your licence, give the safety briefing (about 15 minutes) and the group sets off behind the guide. If you're more than 15 minutes late you can lose your place without a refund.
To drive you need to be 18 with a physical category B licence: copies, photos, provisional and digital licences aren't accepted. Passengers don't need a licence. Quads are limited to 45 km/h, the route is 100% on tarmac and the guide can swap drivers if something looks unsafe. You can't use your phone or film while the quad is moving.
The main stop is a viewpoint in the park with time for photos. You don't reach the foot of Teide, the cable car or the summit. The route can change due to park rules, traffic or weather.
About the price: the headline fare is per quad with one rider. On top of that there's a mandatory €30 cover contract per quad. Photos (€20 per quad) and GoPro or footwear hire are optional. The jacket is only included if you buy the photos, so bring warm clothes.
Who I recommend it for
- Anyone staying in Los Cristianos, Las Américas or Costa Adeje without a car.
- Anyone who wants to ride a quad in the mountains without leaving the tarmac.
- Anyone after a different sunset plan on Teide.
Who I don't recommend it for
- Anyone wanting to walk in Las Cañadas or take the cable car: choose a Teide trip with the cable car.
- Anyone with a fear of heights or carsickness on bends.
- Anyone travelling with children under 6.
Accessibility
Not suitable for people with mobility problems.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, with a full refund.
