Our take
The Caminito del Rey is one of the best things you can do from Málaga, and the awkward part is getting to El Chorro. Here a private car from your hotel solves that, and entry is included, which sells out in high season. Be clear on the format: transport is private, but on the Caminito you walk with a guide in a group. At €610 for 1 or 2 people it isn't cheap; for 4 (€960 in total) it adds up better. If you don't mind a coach, group trips are much cheaper.

The experience
What the day is like
You're picked up from your hotel in Málaga and a little over an hour later you're in El Chorro, where it all begins. The Caminito del Rey is a path of about 3 km pinned to the walls of the Gaitanes gorge, with walkways barely a metre wide and stretches more than 100 metres above the river.
The route is flat and technically easy: what makes it special are the walkways, the bridges over the reservoir and the lookouts. Afterwards the driver takes you back to Málaga.
How it works
Transport is private; entry and the guide on the Caminito are a group visit. The price is per group: €610 for 1 or 2 people and €960 for 4. Bring your passport or ID.
