Our take
Úbeda and Baeza are two of Spain's loveliest Renaissance towns, and they're awkward to reach from Granada by public transport. This trip solves that with a private car and guide, plus the tickets, of which there are several. For two it's €388 each; for four it drops to €211. It's a good plan for small groups who want to see Andalusia's Renaissance calmly and without driving.

The experience
How the day goes
In Úbeda you cover the essentials: the Sacra Capilla del Salvador, built by Francisco de los Cobos as his pantheon; the Vázquez de Molina palace, whose courtyard leads to the Town Hall square; Plaza 1º de Mayo; the basilica of Santa María de los Reales Alcázares; the Bishop's Prison and the Marquis of Mancera palace.
After lunch, Baeza: the old butchers' hall, the Civil Court and Notaries' building, the Puerta de Jaén, the old university with its great hall and Antonio Machado's classroom, and the cathedral, with the Puerta de la Luna and Puerta del Perdón.
