Our take
A good way to try a jet ski with an instructor close by and no hassle. The key thing is that the price is per jet ski: shared between two it works out much cheaper. Half an hour goes quickly; if you like speed, look at the longer option.

The experience
What you will see
- The south-west coast of Gran Canaria from the water, with its cliffs and resorts perched above the sea.
- The harbour of Puerto Rico, one of the big marinas of the south.
- With luck, turtles, dolphins or flying fish along the way.
How it works
Meet the Gran Canaria Water Sport team at Puerto Base in Puerto Rico, opposite the Costa Mar restaurant at the corner of the commercial dock: look for the yellow flag with their logo and the words "moto de agua". Arrive 15 minutes early.
Once you've put on your life jacket and had your briefing, a boat takes you from the harbour out to the jet skis. You ride your own while the instructor follows in a safety boat, alternating fast and gentle stretches along the coast. The tour lasts between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the option you book.
The price, explained
The "from" price is per jet ski, not per person. Two people can ride on each jet ski:
- Two people on one jet ski: book 1 participant.
- Three people: you need 2 jet skis, so book 2 participants.
Practical tips
- You must be able to swim, and minors can only take part with an adult.
- Pregnant women and people with heart problems cannot take part.
- Cameras are not allowed and only small bags are permitted: leave valuables at the hotel.
- Bring swimwear, a towel and sun protection; you will get wet.
- Departures depend on the sea and the weather.
Who I recommend it for
- Couples and friends who want to share a jet ski and cut the cost.
- First-timers who want to try a jet ski with supervision.
Who I don't recommend it for
- Non-swimmers.
- Anyone after a relaxed wildlife trip: a catamaran is better for that.
Accessibility
Not wheelchair accessible.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, with a full refund.
