The experience
What you'll see
Destilerías Arehucas is the best-known rum distillery in the Canary Islands. The tour takes you through its ageing cellar, one of the oldest in Europe, with 4,308 American oak barrels.
Then you see how the rum is made: the mill, the fermentation and distillation rooms and the bottling plant. It ends with a tasting of the house rums and liqueurs, and you can buy in the shop.
How it works
One hour with a guide in Spanish, English or German. The distillery is at the entrance to Arucas, about 20 minutes from Las Palmas. It's wheelchair accessible.
Who it's for
For anyone after a short, inexpensive plan in the north of the island, and for rum fans. It combines well with the old town of Arucas and its volcanic-stone church, or with the banana plantation visit.
Accessibility
