Our take
Unlike other trips that mix in San Sebastián, this one stays entirely on the French side and adds Bayonne, which has far more old town than Biarritz. It is a long day on a coach, but the balance between guided visits and free time is well judged.

The experience
What you will see
- Biarritz: the Grande Plage, the Casino and the Sainte-Eugénie church.
- Bayonne: the Town Hall, St Andrew's church and its Gothic cathedral.
- Saint-Jean-de-Luz: the fishing harbour and the Basque houses of the centre.
How it works
You leave by coach from Bilbao or San Sebastián. In Biarritz there is a guided visit and some free time; in Bayonne, the longest stop, there is a guided visit and time for lunch. The day ends with a guided walk around Saint-Jean-de-Luz before returning to the departure point.
Who I recommend it for
- Anyone who wants to see the French Basque Country in a day without driving.
- Travellers as interested in old towns as in the coast.
Who I don't recommend it for
- Anyone without a valid ID card or passport.
- People who find long coach journeys tiring.
Accessibility
Not suitable for people with reduced mobility or wheelchair users.
