Seville Cathedral sells tickets with a set entry time and limited capacity, for both the nave and the climb up the Giralda, and in spring, at Easter and on Spanish bank holidays the best times go early. "Sold out" on the official website doesn't mean you miss the Cathedral, but waiting for cancellations won't help either: tickets can't be changed or refunded. These are the routes left, in the order worth trying them.

1. The official website and the Prince's Gate box office
Official tickets are sold from catedraldesevilla.es, which links to its ticket platform. General admission to the Cathedral and the Giralda is €13 online and €14 at the box office (reduced €7 and €8) and also includes the Church of El Salvador. The Cathedral opens Monday to Saturday from 10:45 to 19:00 and on Sundays from 14:30 to 19:00. If your date shows as sold out:
- Check every time that day: each entry time has its own allocation, and the afternoon ones tend to last longer.
- Go to the box office: it's at the Prince's Gate (Puerta del Príncipe) and closes at 18:00, an hour before the building. Online ticket holders go in through the Lagarto Gate. Capacity is limited, so on busy days nothing is guaranteed: the earlier you arrive, the better.
- Bring your ID: reduced and free rates only apply with an official document proving eligibility.
What doesn't work: waiting for cancellations. Under the Cathedral's rules, tickets can't be refunded or moved to another date, and arriving late for your time doesn't give you a refund either.
2. Free Sundays and the rooftop tour
On Sundays entry is free, depending on the liturgical calendar. Tickets are collected in person at the Prince's Gate box office from 17:00 until closing, with limited capacity. Worth trying if you're in town on a Sunday, but not a plan.
Another route is the guided rooftop tour (Cubiertas): an hour and a half across the Cathedral roofs, with access to the Cathedral, the Giralda and El Salvador included. It costs €20 online and €21 at the box office, runs in Spanish, English and French, and has its own allocation, so it sometimes has places when the general visit is sold out. In bad weather it's cancelled and you can ask for a new date or a refund.
3. A resold timed ticket or a guided tour
When the official site has nothing left, licensed resellers usually still have places because they buy their allocations ahead. You pay more than on the official site:
- Timed ticket, no guide (from €17.50): the cheapest way in if you just want to visit and climb the Giralda.
- Cathedral, Giralda and Alcázar (from €53): if you haven't sorted the Alcázar yet either, you do both in one morning.
- Private tour (from €300 per group): with tickets to the Alcázar and the Cathedral, worth it if there are several of you.
Before paying, check that the listing says "Cathedral entry included". Some city-centre walks only cover the outside.
4. What you can see without a ticket
If you get nothing, there's plenty to see from outside:
- The Giralda from Plaza Virgen de los Reyes, the best street-level view.
- The Gothic facades and the Assumption Door from Avenida de la Constitución.
- Plaza del Triunfo, between the Cathedral and the Alcázar, with the Prince's Gate on one side.
And if the Alcázar is sold out too, its options are in Alcázar of Seville tickets sold out.
Mistakes to avoid
- Buying from sites that look like the official one. They overcharge and don't always deliver a valid ticket. Always start from
catedraldesevilla.es. - Booking a tour without checking it includes entry. You pay for a guide and stay at the door.
- Arriving late for your time. The time on your ticket is your entry time, and turning up late doesn't get you a refund.
- Bare shoulders or a big backpack. The rules require covered shoulders and don't allow medium or large backpacks up the Giralda.
In one sentence
If the official site is sold out, try the Prince's Gate box office before 18:00, look at the rooftop tour, or book a timed ticket or a guided tour that includes entry; and if you only have one day, fit the Cathedral into Seville in 1 day.
