The Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres sells tickets online by day and time slot, and availability depends on the museum's capacity. In July and August, at Easter and on Spanish bank holidays, the busiest dates go early. "Sold out" on the official website doesn't mean you miss Dalí: these are the routes left, in the order worth trying them.
Which ticket should you choose?
| If you want… | Option | From |
|---|---|---|
| A guide, without relying on the official site | Dalí Theatre-Museum guided tour with entry, 4.7★ (105) Book | €31 |
| To go from Barcelona with transport sorted | Girona, Figueres and Cadaqués day trip from Barcelona, 4.7★ (2,352) Book | €69 |
1. Check the official website again
The only official ticket site is tickets.salvador-dali.org, linked from salvador-dali.org, the website of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation. General admission is from €18.50, reduced from €15 and the ticket with an official guided tour is €26.50. Children under 9 go free. If your date shows as sold out:
- Check every slot that day: don't stop at mid-morning; there may be room first thing or late in the day.
- Look at the ticket with the official guided tour, which is listed separately.
- Try another day: from October to December the museum opens Tuesday to Sunday, 10:30 to 18:00. In July and August it opens every day, 9:00 to 20:00. The rest of the year it closes on Mondays, except on some bank holidays such as 12 October, 9 November and 7 December.
- Book early if you're going in August: the "Dalí by Night" evening openings (in 2026, 1 to 23 August, 21:30 to midnight) are capped at 500 people a night and sold separately.
What doesn't work: waiting for cancellations. The foundation says it makes no changes or refunds for reasons outside the museum's control. If you need a different date, email reserves@fundaciodali.org.
2. The museum box office
The Theatre-Museum has a ticket desk at the main entrance, on Plaça Gala i Salvador Dalí, and you can get in and buy tickets up to 45 minutes before closing. But availability depends on capacity, so in high season the desk sells what's left, not what you need. If you turn up without a ticket, go at opening time or late in the day, and have a plan B.
3. A guided tour or a day trip with entry included
When the official site has nothing left, operators usually still have places because they book their tickets ahead. You pay more than on the official site:
- Guided tour of the Theatre-Museum with entry (from €31): the most direct option if you're already in Girona or Figueres.
- Day trip from Barcelona (from €69): Girona, Figueres and Cadaqués with transport sorted. Museum entry is optional: when booking, choose the option with Dalí Theatre-Museum entry; without it you just get free time in Figueres. The stop lasts an hour and a half.
Be wary of Figueres walks that only pass the façade without saying so.
4. The other two Dalí museums: Púbol and Portlligat
The foundation runs two other, quieter museums that round off the trip well:
- Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol: the castle Dalí gave to Gala. General admission is €10 online (€12 at the desk) outside July and August. From 2 November to 31 December it opens Tuesday to Sunday, 10:30 to 17:00, and it closes from 7 January to 27 February. There's no public transport to the village: the R11 train goes to Flaçà, then you need a taxi.
- Salvador Dalí House in Portlligat: the painter's home next to Cadaqués. Here booking ahead is essential: visits are in small groups that go in every 10 minutes, and if you miss your time the booking is cancelled. General admission to the house and olive grove is €15.50 outside July and August. It closes from 7 January to 11 February.
If you're heading to the coast, Costa Brava day trips from Girona covers how to pair Cadaqués with other villages.
5. What you can see without a ticket
If you get nothing, you can still see a fair amount of Figueres from the street:
- The Theatre-Museum façade, with the giant eggs along the top, from Plaça Gala i Salvador Dalí.
- The Torre Galatea on Pujada del Castell, painted red and studded with three-pointed bread rolls. Inside are the rooms with Dalí's jewellery (Dalí·Joies), which are part of the Theatre-Museum visit.
To get there, the high-speed train takes about 55-65 minutes from Barcelona-Sants to Figueres-Vilafant, around 20 minutes' walk from the museum. The R11 regional train goes to Figueres station in the centre, about 15 minutes on foot, but takes much longer. Both stop in Girona.
Mistakes to avoid
- Buying from sites that look like the official one. They overcharge and don't always deliver a valid ticket. The official site is
tickets.salvador-dali.org. - Going on a Monday outside July and August. The museum is closed, except on the bank holidays the foundation lists as special openings.
- Booking a day trip without checking it includes entry. You pay for the coach and stay in the square.
- Turning up at Portlligat without a booking. It's the smallest house and you can't get in without booking ahead.
In one sentence
If the official site is sold out, try other slots and days, go to the box office at opening or late in the day, or book a tour with entry included; and if you're staying in the area, what to see in Girona in one day has the plan for the rest of your day.
