Our take
The Alcázar is far more rewarding with someone explaining what you're looking at, and privately you go at your own pace and ask what you like. With tickets included and from 4 people it works out at about €56 a head, not much more than a group tour.
What's included
- Private official guide (Spanish or English; Italian on request)
- Royal Alcázar tickets
- Visit to the palaces, patios and gardens
Not included
- Food and drink
- Hotel pickup
- Gratuities
Good to know
Things to keep in mind
- Alcázar tickets are issued in each visitor's name: when booking you must give the name and ID number of everyone in the group
- Bring your ID on the day
- One price for groups of up to 4; there is another rate for 5 to 10 people
Meeting point
Plaza del Triunfo, next to the Cathedral and the Alcázar entrance
The experience
What the tour is like
You meet your guide in Plaza del Triunfo, next to the Alcázar entrance, and go in with your tickets already bought. For about 2 hours you explore the palace with your group only: its Islamic origins, the Palace of Pedro I and the Patio de las Doncellas, the halls of the Catholic Monarchs and Charles V, and the gardens, with stories and legends you won't get from the audio guide.
How it works
It's private and priced per group, tickets included: €191 for 2 people and €222 for 4. When booking you're asked for each person's name and ID because Alcázar tickets are issued in each visitor's name.
Who I recommend it to
- Anyone who wants to understand the Alcázar, not just walk through it.
- Families and groups of 3 or 4: per person it costs about the same as a group tour.
- If you can't find standalone tickets, this tour includes them.
Accessibility
Most of the route is flat, but there are steps and uneven ground in some patios and in the gardens.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation with a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours in advance. No refund within the last 24 hours.
