Our take
Málaga is an hour and a half from Granada and deserves a full day. This private trip uses it well: cathedral and Alcazaba with tickets and a guide in the morning, lunch in the centre and the Picasso Museum in the afternoon. No car, nothing to organise. For two it's €392 each; for four it drops to €208. There's a handy extra: you can finish in Málaga, useful if your trip continues along the Costa del Sol or you're flying out of its airport.

The experience
How the day goes
You're picked up from your accommodation in Granada and driven to Málaga, capital of the Costa del Sol, for a full guided tour of its main sights.
First the cathedral, with its 84-metre north tower and the unfinished south tower that earned it the nickname «La Manquita»; you go inside. Then the Alcazaba, the Moorish citadel at the foot of Gibralfaro, beside the Roman Theatre. A walk through the old town and the former Jewish quarter leads to a local restaurant for lunch.
In the afternoon, the Museo Picasso Málaga, with works from every stage of the artist, who was born in the city in 1881.
How it works
Private transport and guide; tickets to the cathedral and Alcazaba included. Bookings are from 2 people (up to 7). Lunch is extra. You can ask to finish in Málaga instead of returning to Granada.
