Our take
The best way to see inland Girona without a car: Besalú, Castellfollit and the Garrotxa are poorly served by public transport. The price is high, but the group of six and the mix of villages and nature make up for it.

The experience
What you will see
- Besalú, with its medieval bridge and the story of its Jewish community.
- Castellfollit de la Roca, perched on a basalt cliff.
- The Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, with a chapel inside a crater.
- Santa Pau and, to finish, Lake Banyoles.
How it works
You leave Girona by van with a group of up to six. The first long stop is Besalú with a guided visit; then a photo stop at Castellfollit, an hour's walk in the volcanic area, optional lunch in Santa Pau and a guided stroll through the village. The day ends with a walk by Lake Banyoles before heading back to Girona.
