The experience
What you'll see
The MNAC occupies the Palau Nacional, built for the 1929 Exhibition on the slopes of Montjuïc. Inside, a thousand years of Catalan art in four main sections.
Romanesque
The collection that makes it unique: 12th-century frescoes removed from Pyrenean churches in the 1920s and mounted in reconstructed apses. The Pantocrator of Sant Climent de Taüll is the most reproduced image in Spanish medieval art.
Gothic
Altarpieces by Bernat Martorell and Jaume Huguet, and 15th-century Catalan painting.
Modernisme and Noucentisme
Gaudí furniture for Casa Batlló and La Pedrera, painting by Ramon Casas and Santiago Rusiñol, the famous Ramon Casas and Pere Romeu on a Tandem. This is where the Eixample makes sense.
20th century and photography
Picasso, Dalí, Miró and the Catalan photography collection.
The terrace
Go up to the Palau Nacional terrace (included): Plaça d'Espanya, the Venetian towers, Tibidabo and the Sagrada Família at a glance. At closing time, walk down to the Magic Fountain if there is a show.
Accessibility
Fully accessible.
Cancellation policy
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before with full refund.
