Barcelona High-Speed Powerboat Ride (1h)

What you'll do

A one-hour ride in two halves:

• About 25 minutes around Port Vell: in among the superyachts and the America's Cup team bases, often with the teams out practising on their foiling boats.
• About 25 minutes at speed along the coast: the city seen from the sea, safari-style, with the occasional dolphin or sunfish along the way.

You go on a boat fully licensed for commercial activities, with up to 8 passengers in individual seats and a professional, fun skipper who fills you in on the city. There are drinks on board (still and sparkling water and soft drinks).

How it works

Meeting point at Marina Vela, Port Vell. Arrive 10 minutes before departure and wear loose, casual clothing and flat-soled shoes — at speed you may get wet from the spray, so bring a towel and swimwear if you fancy a dip. Minimum age 12. It's a high-speed ride, so it isn't recommended for people with back problems or heart conditions, or for pregnant travellers.

Who I'd recommend it to

• Anyone after something livelier than a sailing trip: short, intense and great fun.
• Groups and friends who want adrenaline and the Port Vell superyachts up close.
• Not the best fit if you want a calm cruise or have back, heart or pregnancy concerns.
