The experience

The route

You start on La Rambla with your guide. The first stop is Palau Güell, Gaudí's first major work, followed by Plaça Reial, with its palm trees and arcades. You pass La Boqueria market before heading into the heart of the Gothic Quarter: the Roman walls, the cathedral, the Call (the old Jewish quarter) and Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, among other corners.

Halfway through, you stop at a local tavern for a tapa with a traditional drink. Then it's on to El Born: the basilica of Santa Maria del Mar and, to finish, the Born market, where you can see the medieval ruins found beneath the city.
